We have offices based in Glasgow and Edinburgh. We are looking for a Lead 3D generalist to join our growing team.

As the Lead 3D Artist, you'll collaborate with the other artists, art directors, and producers to create stunning visuals that explain complex science stories.

Glasgow or Edinburgh, Scotland
Key Responsibilities
Manage multiple projects efficiently and effectively. Ensure the client’s expectations are managed throughout and that projects are delivered on time and to budget
Deliver all work to the highest standards of quality and accuracy paying close attention to scientific accuracy and detail provided by the medical illustration team
Take a medical animation storyboard, provided by the medical illustration team, and work through 3D production process from 3D asset build to final animation.
Be able to follow company brand and style guidelines
Required experience/ skills
Skilled and proficient Cinema4D or Maya Generalist with experience in producing work for the 3D animation pipeline
Familiarity with Redshift renderer
Capable of developing further skills in modeling for characters, UV texture set-up, particle effects, procedural effects, shader configuration, and preparation for rendering via Redshift and compositing
Ability to composite rendered images in After Effects or Photoshop and use relevant effects to achieve the desired art direction
Be a positive team member
Contribute to a cooperative, creative studio environment by communicating well with coworkers
Provide feedback to the team regularly
Must be able to communicate artistic and technical concepts clearly and concisely in either verbal or written format to guide team members
Communicate effectively and expectation-setting with the company directors with regard to expected quality and timelines on delivery
Create detailed notes for all projects to preserve the creative learning for future use, and make sure to archive all completed project work so that it's easily accessible for your colleagues when they need it.
Evaluate and recommend new methods, techniques, materials, and equipment for use in medical illustration
Qualifications
Master’s or Bachelor's degree in animation
At least 5 years experience in the field of 3D animation
Knowledge and proficiency in:
Animation and modeling software such as Cinema4D and/or Maya (incl. full production workflow from low-poly quad modelling, texture mapping, and rendering set-ups)
Nice to have, but not necessary: motion graphic animation in After Effects and video editing in Premiere
An interest in the medical animation field
Has a keen interest and is up to date with animation, design and illustration trends
Outstanding portfolio and demo reel
