We help bring your science story to life.

As medical illustration experts, we combine our science knowledge and design thinking to make attention-grabbing content for our clients in the medical and pharmaceutical industry.

Our Approach

You + us = team

We firmly believe in a collaborative working relationship with our clients and we work best with clients who are passionate and involved. This is where the best results can be achieved. From the very beginning we want to know your science story, what it is you want to tell, and what you want to teach to your audience. We don’t make a start until we fully understand what your goals are.

Why we create medical visuals

What excites us is creating something that people want to look at and learn from, rather than have to because they need to understand a disease process or surgery. Through this we combine our love of design and science to ignite that spark of learning that empowers our audiences with a better understanding of science.

Our process

We employ a phase-locked approach that enables us to collaborate with you to create custom-branded visuals that accurately represent your brand and effectively convey your science stories. Below is a brief overview of our production pipeline.

Our process in detail

  • Every project begins with an initial message or enquiry. Our contact form will help you with where to start.
We invite you to share your ideas and outline your objectives and goals. From there, we’ll set up a discovery call to ask a series of focused questions to understand your requirements and determine how best we can support your timelines, budget, and project goals.

After this, we work with you collaboratively to plan your project and refine the creative brief. The creative brief will serve as a guideline for how we’ll achieve your project.

  • At the kickoff meeting, we’ll align on project goals, key scientific messages, visual direction, branding guidelines, timelines, and final deliverables. This session sets the foundation for the entire production process, ensuring we’re clear on expectations and priorities from the very beginning.

  • Our number one priority is to understand the science, which is why our team really value the research portion of our productions. Additionally, we conduct background research into their branding guidelines, what they have developed in the past, as well as gain an understanding of what they are hoping to achieve as part of our collaboration. Alongside that, we conduct market research to understand what is being created in a similar space for the particular target audience.

  • Throughout this whole process, we look to you for your guidance and valued input to ensure that what we’re creating aligns with your project goals.

    Phase 1
We enter phase 1 production. We will work closely with your team to develop materials for your review so that you can make sure that it aligns with your vision and creative brief, as well as make sure that it is prepared for Med-Legal Review.

    Phase 2
As we enter Phase 2 production we implement any feedback notes from MLR. Hopefully our reviews together prior to MLR submission will mean that the feedback notes are minimal. This allows our team to push forward and develop the finalized visuals.

We will work closely together to make sure that it is prepared for the final MLR review and sign off for delivery.

  • Our checkpoints and milestones will have gradually moved our production towards the end goal. Thanks to your feedback during reviews we’re confident that we’re delivering a visualisation that meets your needs. We’ll package the assets for you and make sure there’s lots of reusability for your materials.

Frequently asked questions

When should we contact you for a medical illustration or animation?

If you’re preparing for a media launch, conference, publication, or something else, we recommend you reach out to us at least 1 month in advance for illustration work and at least 3 months in advance for video or animation work. This will give our team enough time to work with you to produce high-quality visuals that fit your needs.

How long does it take to create a medical illustration?

Depending on the complexity of the illustration, it can take between 3 weeks to 2 months. This timeline includes your review times—we have a rigorous client review process included in our schedules. These reviews can include any medical-legal reviews that your image might need to undergo.

How long does it take to create a medical animation?

Animation timelines depend on the complexity of the animation, your budget, whether it’s 2D or 3D, and many other factors. We generally advise that animation productions span around 3 to 4 months but this could increase depending on a variety of factors. Having a solid creative brief at hand will help estimate the length of the production.

What should we prepare to get in contact for a project?

It all begins with an idea and a message you want to share or teach. Put this in writing, and feel free to reach out to us to discuss further or if you need help putting together a creative brief. Our contact form will help you in your first steps.

How much do medical illustrations and animations cost?

Our prices are based on our client’s project requirements. Our clients’ projects are unique, each have their own goals. In order for us to provide a price quote, we would first need to understand your project and what you’re looking for. Feel free to reach out to us and we can see how best we can help.
