VISUAL DEVELOPMENT

We’ve always found it useful to see the process of how other people create things. Here are some behind the scenes snippets and work in progress pieces that might be of interest to you.

Step 1

We had a lot of elements to introduce as part of this story and it was important to help tier the information as the reader absorbed it all. Our first step here was to make sure all of the key players were present in the layout and that the information flowed well before we polished the illustrations.

Step 2

Because this article was aimed at the widest audience possible we wanted to develop a simple and clean style for the components that you would see on the page. We refined the character designs at this stage.

Step 3

Working with Jen we were given a larger layout to implement her art direction and feedback notes. Here, we were able to tier the story better and group the information into easily digestible segments.

Step 4

After implementing Jen’s art direction we dived into 3D and developed the rest of the assets that you would see in the final layout.
